Periodontal Care

The treatment of periodontal disease is an essential dental service. At Courtside Dental, we provide quality periodontal treatments to preserve gum health and eliminate the periodontal infection. Our dedicated dentists, Dr. Acia Rizvi and Dr. Mina Patel are passionate about healing their patients and preserving their oral health.

What is Periodontal Disease?

Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums stemming from the bacteria in dental plaque. Often, patients lacking in consistent dental maintenance will develop this condition. Other cases occur in proactive patients due to genetic predispositions that cause decreased bacterial resistance.

Gum infection causes swollen, tender gum tissue that can bleed when brushed or flossed. The infection can spread to the jawbone if left untreated. It can also enter the center of teeth, also known as the pulp, and necessitate root canal therapy or extraction.

Prevent further damage to your teeth and gums with periodontal disease therapy.

Heal Your Smile with Periodontal Disease Therapy

There are many treatments that can help return your gums to optimal health. One of which is a non-invasive, nonsurgical option known as scaling and root planning (or SRP). This procedure involves removing plaque and tartar from the surfaces of teeth, extending beneath the gum line. Plaque can accumulate below the gum line and cause the gums to detach from the roots, but an SRP treatment will encourage their reattachment.

Depending on the severity of your gum detachment, our dentists may recommend a pocket reduction or a gum graft so gums can reattach.  Gum grafts add gum tissue to help protect vulnerable teeth roots.
